After the Final Fight series she later appeared alongside wrestler Hugo, acting as his manager, with her schemes revolving around finding a tag team partner for him or developing their own wrestling organization. I've never actually met anyone (under the age of 40, at least) who's been out and transitioning since before I started, so I kinda tend to adopt a mentor attitude whenever speaking with other trans women, regardless of how far along in their transition they may be. I understand every person is different, but I just thought I would share my experience. What I personally have had great successes with have been androgynous women (we pull them off extremely well) like Final Fantasy V's Faris or Boudicca as from Civilization V. Also, when I once tried jumping right into the deep end with something incredibly feminine right off the bat, it ended up so stressful and terrifying it actually had a negative effect on my self-esteem rather than a positive one. People say Poison, but no trans woman on the planet has that build (or any cis woman either to be honest).

there really aren't any good trans characters to cosplay. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but coming from another trans woman who's done cosplay before.
